Good evening!
We’ve started letting Avery practice feeding herself more. Up until now, she is either spoon fed things or she eats with her hands. This is pretty much because I hate the mess that this learning experience brings with it – but I have to let her do it at some point or I’ll be stuck feeding the little turkey.
She actually did fairly well! I was surprised!
Yes, she got it all over her face but that is to be expected.
She only got a small amount on her shirt too! She’s a teeeeensy bit neater than Dylan was at this age. He REALLY got into his food.
The bad part about letting her be independent is that she doesn’t want her independence to end. I tried to help her eat the last bit of the yogurt and she wouldn’t have any of it. She got mad and did it herself. Then when it was all gone, she was mad that she was done being a “big girl” and screamed at me some more. Oh Avos!
She doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry!
Guess she picked cry. We kissed and made up though.
So today while Avos and I were shopping browsing in Brainerd, we came across a toddler bed at Target that was clearanced out. I figured that Avery would probably be climbing out of her crib in the next few months so it was probably a good idea to snag it up. However, when we got home, Dylan immediately claimed it as his. He has been complaining for awhile that he didn’t want his car bed anymore and we had planned on getting him a twin or a full sized bed in the near future. But, we figured it wouldn’t hurt to let him use this one for a bit until Avery is ready for it. So Eric got to work putting it together.Yeah, so she’s a little disheveled. She has bed head! Give her a break!
Okay, I swear, her hair doesn’t always look this bad!
Trying it out sans mattress. The picture on the box had a sheet and a blanket on it and he was kind of confused as to where his new sheets were at. Ummmmm
Woohoo! And the old bed will make a FINE fort until cousin Easton inherits it.
That’s better! He’ll be all cozy back there in the corner. Eric was pretty proud of his handy work.
And I was proud of my handy work. I made the Mushroom and Sausage Ragu again. It’s just so good! And since Eric wasn’t here the first time I made it, I wanted to make it again. Not sure if he liked it or not. Compliments are few and far between for this chef. Well, that’s it for tonight. We have a date for Chuck! Oh and in case you were wondering about my illness – it appears to be going away all on its own! I woke up this morning and was able to do my workout with no problem. I thought it was maybe a fluke that I wasn’t coughing AT ALL during my workout, but then after I finished up I was still cough free. I’ve been coughing a little bit today but not NEARLY as much as before. So yay! Back to normal!
Yes, Avoes did a pretty good job of feeding herself, by why no bib??!! And then a change of clothes? She does have some BIG bedhead agoin' on!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very cute little bed---is the mattress out of the car? did he like sleeping in it? cause he sure seemed pleased with it--as did Dad!!
