Half way done!!

I am officially half way done with my pregnancy now!  Am 19 weeks today, which is the half way point for me.  My repeat c-section will be 1-2 weeks before my official due date (June 7th) and it can't come fast enough for me!  As most of you know, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with Dylan and have now been diagnosed again.  I was tested early for it this time and yep, its back.  Its a genetic thing, so there was nothing I could have done to prevent it from happening.  Its hard to keep that in mind though as I'm struggling with the GD "diet."  I feel like I eat very well and I get plenty of exercise, so it's hard not to start thinking, "why me?"  But, I have made it through this before and I know that I can do it again.  The diet is mainly just figuring out which carbohydrates are broken down best by MY body (they have to break down slowly so that I don't have blood sugar spikes and dips) and cutting out carbs that I find don't work for me.  Its mind boggling seeing the amount of carbs in things you don't necessarily think of as a carb food.  Milk is the one that I know I will struggle with the most, since its really been the only thing I have craved during this pregnancy.  But I know that I will get it all figured out again and do well with it.  It will have to be adjusted as I get bigger and the placenta and baby get bigger (its the placenta thats blocking my body's natural production of insulin - meaning, I cannot make enough insulin for two people).  The things that I find to "work" now, might not work in a month.  The last time I had GD, I only had to deal with it for a couple of months.  So having to deal with it for 4 1/2 months might be a little trickier, but again, I know that I can do it.  Guess this post is a little pep talk for myself in a way.

So I guess this means no more Happy Joes for me Gpa Danny!  So don't even bring it up!  You don't want to make the pregnant chick cry, do you?
