Again?

We went to the Brainerd this morning so we could hit up the Y and work on our fitness while the kiddies played in the play area.  I Zumba’d my heart out and feel as though I could give that instructor a run for her money if she doesn’t watch out! Open-mouthed  We got done working out to find that Dylan is once AGAIN sick.  He has a fever this time.  Uggggggg. This is getting reDONKulous!  I mean, I know the kid hasn’t really been sick at all, so we should have seen this coming – but really – 2 times in 7 days?  Come on!   DSC_2527

So we scrapped our day and came home.  He spent the afternoon on the couch doing much of this: DSC_2528

Avos showed the proper amount of concern. DSC_2534How could he be sick AGAIN?! She wondered.  I know, Avery, Mommy thought the SAME THING.   DSC_2535

So I did what any good Mommy would do and I made soup.  Of course, he didn’t eat a lick of it, but I saw that one coming.   I made a Carrot Lentil Soup that I found in the Smart School Time Recipe’s eCookbook.  You can download it here if you haven’t already done so.  It is AWESOME and full of healthy food for the fam.  Do yourself a favor and download it – you won’t be sorry.   DSC_2541

Avery ate it though – hats off to the chef, she said!

Alright, well, I must go relax because I’m sure that we’ll have a little visitor in our bed tonight meaning we won’t get a lot of sleep.  So I better rest it up!

Hittin’ the Sauce

I got tricked into decorating for Christmas today.  Dylan has been bugging me for the last week to get out his Santa hat and finally today I gave in.  The reason why I had to decorate was because the hat was somewhere amongst all the Christmas decor.  There are SEVEN giant tubs of Christmas decor.  So I figured it might be easier to just get it all out and come upon his hat in the process.  And what a process it is!  He kept asking why it was taking so long.  Ugggg.  It took even longer because of how many times I was asked and also because of a certain silly sister wrapped around my legs wanting UP UP UP.  Such is the life of a mom!  DSC_2483  The reason why he even thought of the hats was because I said we needed to start working on the Christmas photo collage and I need updated pictures of them wearing the hats.  My mistake!DSC_2489

So here is a bit of the decor… DSC_2494 DSC_2496 DSC_2497 DSC_2500 DSC_2501 DSC_2502 DSC_2505Always a fun discovery!

Never a dull moment with magnets! DSC_2515

What the heck are YOU?! DSC_2517Trying to come up with some fun things to put in the boxes this year….any ideas?  I need 25 good ideas and they can’t ALL be candy!

DSC_2526

Decided to make applesauce today.  Cub had a good deal on a tote of Honeycrisp apples that I couldn’t pass up, so we have a ton of apples.   DSC_2519

Now, let me tell ya though – things would have gone A LOT faster had I had one of these babies:
The Apple Machine- Peeler, Corer and Slicer with 2 Bases
(source)
My Mom has one and they ROCK.  I could have had all those apples cored, peeled and diced in 10 minutes.  But nooooooooo.  I had to do it all by hand.  It was no bueno!  DSC_2525 So anyway, I figured – why not cook them slowly in the crockpot so we have yummy smells?  So I put them in there with water and a teaspoon of cinnamon for 4 hours or so on LOW and viola – applesauce.  No picture of the finished product.  It’s too dark in here and besides – you know what applesauce looks like.  It’s gonna be FAB in my oatmeal tomorrow morning.  BE JELLY!

Ok, you guessed it – it’s TV time!  I gotta go see what it is that Oprah thinks I need.  Oprah knows all, you know.  Listen to the PopeRah.

We’re baaaaaaaack!!!

Did you wonder where I went?  In case you hadn’t seen this coming after my post on Monday, we all got struck down by a nasty case of the stomach flu.  Pretty sure it hit me the worst, as I am still dealing with pangs of nausea here and there.  Nothing a giant bag of crystallized ginger can’t fix though! Wink  Seriously though – it was a DOOZY.  I’m very glad the kids didn’t get the grunt of it – but that doesn’t mean that I wanted it either!  (And for the record, I don’t mean that I wanted Eric to get it the worst either – I just would have rather had a mild-er case of it cuz it SUCKED!)  It took a few days to for us all to fully recover.  We spent a lot of time looking like this:DSC_2429

And like this: DSC_2430

But, all is back to normal now.  Kids are back at destroying the house – a favorite wintertime past time! DSC_2432

Toesies! DSC_2433Ave

ry is getting the hang of my constant picture taking.  She heard the clicking, stood up, turned around and said, “CHEEEEESE!” DSC_2434And

then noticed her brother was building a lovely tower that had to be destroyed! DSC_2436

Get it, Avery!  Paybacks are a bitch!  DSC_2437

I did some experimenting with my camera today as well.  I’m trying to figure out how to work with the light we have in the house at the moment.  Winter lighting is no bueno!   DSC_2440 DSC_2441 DSC_2442 DSC_2444 DSC_2445 DSC_2446

Dylan relished in the fact that I was taking so many pictures.  He LOVES to have his picture taken at the moment.  Can’t get him to smile nicely though.  As usual. DSC_2447 DSC_2448 DSC_2450 DSC_2452

He told me that I couldn’t take pictures of his feet because, “they aren’t cute anymore, Mom!  They are BIG and STRONG!”  Um, okay? DSC_2455

Little chef working away in her kitchen.  I have it on good authority that her kitchen is about to receive a major upgrade!  Woohoo! DSC_2456 DSC_2459 DSC_2460 DSC_2469

No food for you today.  Since my stomach is still all queasy, food hasn’t really been on the brain in the last 4 days.  This is probably good that I’m not eating much this week…cuz we all know what will happen next week!  Gluttony at it’s finest people!  Muahahahahaha!

Alrighty, time to hit the couch!  Later!

Sledding fun?

Gonna be a quickie this morning!  Dylan wanted his sledding pics up for the world to see and wanted it done NOW!  So demanding.  New wrinkle tho – now Avery is sick and it appears Eric is too.  So now I’m waiting for the ax to fall on me.  And as I said before – its sooooooo not cool when the Mom gets sick.  Mom’s don’t have time.  I don’t GET to lay around and get better.  There’s no time for that!  Have you ever tried to take care of little people when you feel like poo stain (I’m talking to YOU single folks!)? Ohhhhh I better not get sick.  Knocks on wood.

Well, here they are sledding yesterday.  Avery still wasn’t a fan.  Though, now in hindsight, I guess she must have been feeling crappy.  But then again, I still think she’ll probably be against outdoor play even without feeling crappy.

DSC_2392 DSC_2393LOL!  Avery is hilarious! DSC_2394 DSC_2396 DSC_2397

She would NOT move.  She just stood there.  Motionless.  Mad at the world. DSC_2400Dylan had fun though!  He spent almost all day outside (here’s how Eric probably got sick). DSC_2402 DSC_2403 DSC_2404 DSC_2408 DSC_2409

She was pleased to be back inside. DSC_2417

But she took TWO naps and that’s not like her.  I should have known. Sad DSC_2419 DSC_2421

Poor Avos!  DSC_2427

Well, gotta get ready for school!  Later!
