Rotten Tomatoes

Someone tell me what is going on with these tomatoes!  Thats seven (plus one more that I found this evening) that are not going to be in my belly at some point!  Grrrrrrrrr.   DSC_9131

My neighbor thinks its some sort of fungus.  Gross!   DSC_9132

I still have a TON of tomatoes on these 2 plants, but still!   DSC_9133

Ah well, what can you do?  Make waffles, I say!  I got these at Teal’s in Cass Lake (of all places, Teals has this pancake mix – who would have thought that!  Seriously!) and we whipped up the flapjacks on Grandpa Puppy’s new grill/griddle combo while we were camping.  And since we LOVE waffles around here – I couldn’t wait til Pancake Saturday to try out the waffle version (we flip flop between waffles and pancakes on Saturdays).  Well, they were everything I thought they would be.  So delicious!  Look em up online – they are very nutritious and have all natural ingredients.

I’m kinda bummed I didn’t take a fancified picture of our waffles like the ones on the website!  Mine looks so sad sitting there with no fun toppings!  I assure you there were toppings and I probably could have dolled it up with fresh raspberries or something.  Next time maybe.DSC_9142

Here’s one of my satisfied customers.  She never lets me down though.  She will eat most anything I throw her way unless there is a nasty little tooth bothering her.  Waffles were not going to be an exception.   DSC_9147

Grandma Toni is going to say she looks like her Auntie Susan.  I think she kinda does in these photos!  If only we had a pic of baby Susan to put next to these!

Well, that’s all for now.  Tomorrow I will most likely have pictures of a very exciting project that had been on hold for several months but is back on track now.  Can anyone guess what it is?  (For a hint: look at the picture of the pancake box)

Cass Lake 2010

Well, we have returned from Cass Lake with more than a few pictures to share.  As usual, I had to pare it down for blog purposes, but plan to have a hefty Facebook album in the near future with more pics – for those who care and have a Facebook account.  The rest of you – too bad!

When we arrived at Cass Lake, it was a beautiful day - perfect for setting up our new tent!  Avery and I were going to be staying in the tent for one night as my parents weren’t coming until the next day with their motorhome.  So we needed a bigger tent to fit all 4 of us.  We got our campsite all set up and settled in.  Suddenly some dark clouds came rollin’ in that no one seemed to think looked too threatening.  So we all sat around in our camp chairs and put the boats in thinking that nothing was going to happen.  Suddenly out of nowhere the wind picked up and you could literally SEE the storm moving quickly towards us across the lake.  We all jumped up and ran into Danny and Kim’s Winnebago before the storm hit our campsites.  It was kind of funny at first because we all had to really book it to cram into the tiny Winnie.  Then we noticed that Patty the Pontoon was not properly secured in the water and was on the move.  So Eric, Chandler and Eric’s friend Jason raced to the shore to rescue Patty.  The rest of us stayed in the Winnie to keep warm and dry until we noticed that the tents were starting to go.  So then Lisa and Kelli ran out to save their tent.  I stayed in the Winnie and just assumed that our tent was fine – it was new, after all.  So I didn’t really think much of it.  I actually had thought about laying Avery down for bed right before the storm hit, but decided to keep her up since she was on vacation.  So the storm had a lull and we all got out to assess the damage.  There were tree branches and twigs everywhere.  Then we walked over to our campsite to see how our tents were.  Here is what we found – our brand new tent completely upside down with all our gear inside.  Yep, 400 or so pounds of our crap wasn’t enough to hold the tent down.  And apparently a 20 pound baby girl wouldn’t have held it down either.  Her pack and play was completely upside down!  Good thing I didn’t lay her down before!!

CSC_8885 DSC_8863Our tent had been set up right were I was standing.  It was damaged in the storm – one of the sides ripped.  We actually didn’t have too much water on the inside of the tent.  A few things got wet, but it really wasn’t as bad as it looked.  Of course, the item that got the most wet was my Perfect Pillow which is pretty much like a sponge when it comes in contact with water.  It took 3 days for the dang thing to dry out!  Grrrrrr.  So, all in all, a great way to start out the week!  Ha!DSC_8872

Here is one of many trees that fell during the storm.  The next morning on our run, we came across 5 trees laying on the bike trail.  It was crazy that it was that windy!

Here is Dylan pleading his case for a second Smore.  I don’t think he won his argument. DSC_8905

I had to post this picture because when I took it and looked at it, it reminded me of how he looked when he was a really little boy.   DSC_8910

The motorhome – my saving grace!  : )  DSC_8913  Here is the view from our campsites.DSC_8930

I like to get fancy for camping.  I know that everyone was jealous of my ruffles.

Avos matched Lulu’s rug!  Had to have a picture of that! DSC_8933

And here are the pictures of Avery and Easton’s Cass Lake baptism.  We lucked out again as the weather was great that day and not so much the rest of the trip!

Here is Avery with Grandpa Danny.  Notice how Avery kept a stone face for pretty much the entire baptism.

Kelli and Addi were having fun tho! DSC_8950

Dejavu anyone?  Look familiar??? DSC_8962 DSC_8965We were not able to have the same views as our wedding (not that you can tell that much) because the island was quite busy with other boaters and swimmers.  For those that know me well, thats the reason I have a crabby, forced smile on my face.  These dang people were ruining my photos!!! Avery getting baptized – she did better than I thought she would.  Normally someone messing with her makes her mad!  But she did okay. DSC_8977 DSC_8981 DSC_8983

I think there might be a smile on her face here.  Hard to tell. DSC_8995 DSC_8996

Couldn’t get Dylan to take pictures with us for very long.  Immediately following these pictures, he threw himself into the water totally squashing my hopes for a re-creation of one of wedding photos that had the 3 of us walking hand in hand on the beach.  I had wanted one with the 4 of us, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.  Between the drenched child and the random dogs and people on the island – it just wasn’t going to happen.

Booooo.

Avos had had enough!

Dylan learned to ride without training wheels while we were at Cass Lake!  First he went with just one training wheel and then he decided to try with NO training wheels and took right off.  He’s officially a big boy now!! DSC_9086 DSC_9088 DSC_9089

Avery went on the tube!  She’s too young to know better.  ; ) DSC_9102

This was the last day at Cass Lake.  We went on a marathon boat ride and trip to Star Island.  Dylan was so tired he actually fell asleep on the tube behind the boat.  It was definitely time to end the week at Cass, I guess!  Time to get back to reality and our normal schedules!

Think that’s about it for the blog post on Cass.  As I said above, I’ll post a giant album of pictures of Facebook and will let the pictures tell the story that was Cass Lake 2010.

Adios Readers!

Fitness Friday – July 23 2010

I know what most of you are thinking - “What?!  Fitness Friday?!  Where is the Cass Lake post?!?!?!”  Well, people – things like that take time to craft into a fun, witty post complete with captions and photos and possibly videos.  So you will have to wait until I am good and ready!

As promised, this week I was going to talk about my favorite barre workout.  But first - what is this barre?  Well, I’ll tell you!  Barre workouts are composed of small, isometric movements that are designed to exhaust the working muscle.  Its non impact and therefore very easy on your joints.  Barre workouts target the entire body and produce amazing results in short amounts of time.  If you want to sculpt a long, lean “dancer’s body” – then barre workouts are for you!  They are pretty intense – but in a good way.  At least, that’s how I feel about them!  Today’s featured workout is Physique 57 – my personal fav.

You may have heard of Physique 57 as the workout that gave Kelly Ripa her “ripped arms.”  Now, I can’t promise that you will get “Kelly Ripa arms” from this workout.  I think genetics plays a big role in those guns of hers!  However, P57 will definitely sculpt your arms.  The “warm up” is where your arms get worked in P57.  The arm work consists of weight work (2 sets of dumbells – a lighter set and a heavier set) and also some tricep dips and pushups.  Yes, you can do them on  your knees to start and work your way up to doing them on your toes and then finally on one leg.

Next up is thigh work, which I find to be the most intense part of the workout.  After that is the “seat” portion (butt work).  Finally, there is the abs, pelvic tucks and final stretches.  The entire Classic workout clocks in at  - you guessed it – 57 minutes.  Time seriously flies with this workout.  It is over before you know it!  There are 2 other workouts that they offer – the 30 minute Express workout and also the Arms and Abs booster.  They also have a set of new DVD’s coming out this fall.  Christmas in October for me, people! : )

I would have gone into more detail on the exercises that are included, but I thought it might be better to just include a video to show you all what P57 is about.  It really is a great workout.  Men can do it too.  I actually think men would be humbled by this workout.  Its no walk in the park.  A lot of people have trouble finishing this DVD the first few times because it is pretty dang hard.  And what is great about it – is that it never gets easy.  It gets easier in the sense that you are able to complete it but it never becomes easy on your muscles.  As your form improves, you are able to work deeper into your muscles exhausting them faster.  I could go on and on about how much I love P57!  I got this workout in February and by April I was back in my skinny jeans.  As the girl says in the promo video before - “inches melted off.”  That was true for me as well.  I couldn’t believe how quickly this worked for me.  It definitely produced the results I was looking for – fitting back into my pre-pregnancy clothes.  So if you really want results and want them fast – give Physique 57 a try!

Here’s the video:
