The Great Outdoors

Since it was such a long winter (fingers crossed that its OVER.  However, I am switching out the winter bedding for the summer bedding in the guest room today, so surely that will jinx it and it will snow next week.), we've been spending a lot more time outside the past few days.  And of course, I had to document it all with pictures.  I noticed there was a request to see the loons (I was getting to it, Ryan) so here they are!  I couldn't get all 40+ to pose together, so here is a picture of one group of them.  There is also a pic of some pelicans that were here yesterday morning swimming around.

Easter Weekend Picture Extravaganza!

We were up at Gma and Gpa Wikoff's for Easter weekend.  Dylan had a good time showing off his potty skills, jibber jabbering to everyone, playing with his cousin Easton and running around pants-less pretty much the entire weekend.  We went to Happy Joes on Friday for a pizza party in his honor.  Its important to celebrate peeing in the potty chair with pizza.  Again.

The next day, Dylan had to show off his hockey skills for Gpa and Eddie.  His slapshot is still very scary.  I stayed clear of the game and for good reason.  

And he of course had to get very dirty playing on the mushy wet beach.  Notice how these suckers still have ice on the lake!  ha ha!

I don't know why, but Eric felt the need to stick his thumb on my boob for the picture.  Nice.

Here I was trying to get Dylan to cooperate for a mother/son photo b/c of our coordinated shirts.  He wasn't having any of it.  So this is the most decent pic that was taken.  The rest of the pics he is either lying on the floor crying or he is in my arms arching his back away from me.  He is so nice!

And here he is looking for the eggs from the Easter bunny.  They were hard boiled eggs, so that was a bit weird.  Clearly, not my idea.

Well, thats it for pictures for today.  This blogger takes waaaaaay too long to upload and I've had enough.  But before I go, Eric wants everyone to know that Dylan peed off the dock this afternoon, it was 60 degrees outside today and he saw 43 loons out in front of our dock.  I can vouch for all 3 things.  However, I did not go out and count the loons, so we'll just have to take his word for it.  But I did hear them loooooooonin' at each other.  (insert your best loon call here).

Its potty time!

Well, Dylan decided he'd try peein' in the potty this weekend.  I think he finally decided that our bribes were enough incentive.  He went twice and got Boost and Snotrod (from the movie Cars) as his prizes.  He also got pizza for dinner and ice cream for dessert.  Now, we know that this is a step in the right direction, but he is no where near getting it down and keeping it that way.  Baby steps though, right?  In this picture, he's mad at me for taking a picture of him in the bathroom.  Come on, D!  Like I wouldn't take a picture of you after your first pee in the potty! ha ha!  Truth be told - I probably would have taken a picture of him GOING potty if I had had the camera upstairs.  Its just that he's sat on that darn thing so many times and done nothing.  He's the boy who cried potty!  

Here we are in Garrison this morning after having our fill of the excellent Mexican omelettes.  Getting a picture in front of the big fish is tricky when:  a) there's no one to take your picture,  b) you have to leave your car in the middle of the road (it was the "tripod"), and c) the only person who knows how to run the timer on the camera is the pregnant lady and she's not too fast of a runner at the moment.  So this is the picture of Dylan and Daddy by the fish.  To see the other pic - visit our Shuttercal site.  I did the best I could. 
And here are the pics of Dylan's new room.  The "Cars" are decals that can just peel off when he has grown tired of them.  The pile of blankets are a "must have" for him at the moment.  He loves to lay on them and hide under them. They also work well in our favor for getting him to take a nap or stay in his bed at night.  "Stay in here or I'm taking away the blankets away!"  "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"  ha ha!  Gotta do what ya gotta do!

And here is where I am at with Avery's room.  I painted it yesterday, so I'm getting there.  Now I get to decorate it with accessories.  I ordered her name letters for above the crib and I have high hopes in re-creating a couple of Pottery Barn Kids art pieces for the walls.  I'm just relieved to have the painting done now.  Is NOT fun with a big belly.  And it's putting my world record painting times to shame.

Baby Avery is still a girl!

Yep, we had another ultrasound today and it looks as though Avery IS a girl - not that I had any doubts anyway.  We had the ultrasound to check her growth and make sure that she wasn't getting too big, too fast (because of the gestational diabetes).  She is weighing in at approximately 3 pounds, 3 ounces which is right on target for her gestational age.  She was in a sleepy mood, so she didn't do much when we were there.  She is head down and had her hands up by her mouth.  She still has a little button nose like her brother too!  The tech only gave us one pic since this visit was only to check her growth.  I'm too lazy to post it (aka - dig out the scanner, hook it up, and upload).  Its not much different from the last picture we have of her face, so just refer back.  Ha!   But anyway, everything looks good!

Nothing else to report on today!  Wish I could think of a fun April's Fools joke to play on you all, but I guess I'm not feeling very creative today.  Oh well!

Bump Watch!

First, a pic of D modeling his new Crocs (a size bigger than last year with super cool "construction" jibbets).  We thought they completed the no pants look quite nicely.  He has recently started outgrowing all of his 2T things.  We're finding that his pants are too tight and too short for comfort - hence, the reason for his no pants dance.  

And here is your bump watch update.  I am 30 weeks today!  Today also marks something else -2 months from today we will have our baby girl!  So 9 weeks to go everyone!  Woohoo!  Will probably go fast for all of you - not so much for me.  Oh well.  

Here is D napping on the couch.  Again.  He was refusing to nap and eventually fell asleep on the couch out of pure exhaustion.  "I'm not tired Mommy!"  HA!  Mom was right!  As usual!  

In other news, Dylan moved into his new room on Friday night.  It took about an hour to get him to stay in there, in his bed, and actually sleep.  Saturday for nap time - no go at all.  I think we kept him up too long and he got overtired.  And then Saturday night it only took a 1/2 hr or so to get him to sleep in there.  Hopefully tonight he just goes right to sleep!  We can dream anyway.  He likes his new room but must have been just a little nervous.  Just like us!  I'm still pretty nervous about him being away from us at night, but I supposed I'll get used to it.  I would have posted pics, but Eric has not yet replaced the super ugly vertical blinds with Dylan's curtains - so I'll wait to take pics of his completed room.  I'll be starting Avery's room one of these days, so there will be pics of that soon.
