Cass Lake and other musings

Well, if you are surprised to see an update from me, you wouldn't be the only one! I took a couple weeks off and wasn't sure I'd ever get one done again! But here I am. Please be sure to check out our shuttercal page too. It has daily photos (not updated daily, of course) that depict our lives on a more regular basis. I am going to TRY to do an album on Facebook as well. If I do, I'll let ya know. Without further adieu, the pics:

Dylan finally riding his tricycle! Unassisted!

And here we are at Cass Lake. Married for one year and one day. Added one baby and many pounds. Yay.

Here marks the end of Dylan's tubing days. Give him some mean bumps and hes DONE!
Driving the boat!
Squares giving me the look.
Squares giving D the look.
Eric and his little friend.
And finally, Squares enjoying a snuggle in our new wrap. She seems to like it and it is nicer on my back than a sling version.

Well, Cass Lake with a baby proved to be not so much fun. For me, anyway. Everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves though. Dylan had a fun time picking on his cousins, eating junk food and getting extremely dirty. He played hard every day and slept hard every night. He also enjoyed having a sleep over party with Grandpa and Grandma each night in their motorhome. One morning he woke up and was chatting with Grandpa who had sat down on the edge of the bed. Well, he must have sat on Grandma's side b/c Dylan said, "Don't sit on your Grandma!" They thought that was pretty funny. Everyone also decided to call Dylan "Steve" all week b/c of the way he behaves and treats his cousins - recklessly. Apparently Eric's cousin Steve was much the same way. Oh well! Until Easton, Addi, Daniel and Squares get bigger, I'm afraid that there isn't anyone who is going to give D a run for his money. Time will tell which of his cousins (or his sister) will push/kick/throw sand or dirt back at him!

Well, the Sheriff is crying, so it looks like I better wrap this up! So much for starting a Facebook album tonight! : (

Announcing...

...the start of the "whenever I get to it updates!" Yes, thats right. These updates will start happening whenever I manage to get around to it. With my little Squares being so high maintenance, it makes it a little difficult to sit around and wait for blogger to upload pictures. I swear, it takes a 1/2 hour just to upload 10 measily pictures. It should NOT take that long. Anyway, for all those used to the weekly updates that I have been doing for the last 2 1/2 years, get used to it! Theres a new sheriff in town and her name is Squares.

Well, we went to Aberdeen for the 4th of July. We took a leap of faith and hoped for the best when it came to traveling with a 4 week old baby who seems to hate everything but my boobs. Surprisingly, she did well! Anyway, here are the pics from the trip.
Yeah, clearly we didn't go swimming. Gross.
Dylsie enjoyed grandma's swing chair. We even got to bring one home with us. Eric managed to NOT kill himself getting the unused swing down from a very high tree branch. It had been there for a year or so. Apparently Eric was the only one willing to risk his life by standing on the very top of the ladder with a very large pole. I chose not to look.

Gpa Puppy holding Squares during a rare moment of silence.

Yeah, I turned 30. Whatevs.

Susan and Adam came for a visit! All the way from Portland OR!
And finally, Dyls and Eric braved the slime!

Well, I must go. I can hear Squares wailing in the distance and since I can't freaking stand her crying, I'm going to go shut her up with my secret weapons regardless of whether or not she's hungry. She doesn't care as long as she gets what she wants! Yeah, it may seem like we don't like her, but we do. A little. I'll like her more in a few months tho I think! : )

Weekly wrap up!

Its time for another exciting installment of the weekly wrap up! Pull up a chair and enjoy the show!
Here's Avery showing off her crawling skills. Lay her on her tummy and she will pull her legs up and start moving them in a crawling motion. She's like a little inch worm!
Well, at least someone is laying in the basket!
One of Dylan's favorite summer activities! He's been promised a bigger pool soon!
Avery's first slide ride!

Dylan couldn't let her go down alone.
A moment between brother and sister.
Being the foreman on the garage build.
Avery hanging out in the garage. She spent most of Saturday sleeping in her stroller outside.
And finally, another tender moment for the siblings. Dylan is always wanting us to "lay her on me!"

Well, we went back to the dr yesterday for another weight check for Avery. She now weighs 6 pounds, 7 ounces. So not quite back to birth weight yet, but shes getting there. The doctor just thinks that we breed small babies. Dylan was the same way. She'll get there! She did grow an inch and a half tho, bringing her to a full 20 inches long! Way to go Avery! So the doctor thinks shes well on her way now and we dont have to do anymore weight checks. I'm relieved!

We go to Aberdeen tomorrow for the 4th of July, so I expect that next weeks post will be full of exciting snapshots and stories! Its also my 30th birthday tomorrow. I think I'll spend the entire day in seclusion. Just kidding! I rule! Just another day, as my husband would say.

Adios fans! Catch ya next week!

Weekly wrap up!

So since I have less time for this now, its going to be called a "weekly" wrap up. Not sure how different that is from the "weekend" wrap up, but just go with it (shush Danny). As usual, we will be using pics to document the week.

Dylan and Squares chillin' in her chair.
He is quite obsessed with his baby sister.
Squares first boat ride. The pics of me and my post partum boobs were awful and therefore, will not be seen here or anywhere. Ever.
Avery enjoying her first pontoon cruise!
Cute pic of Dylan and Daddy swimming.

Playin' trucks in the sand.
Avery is getting bigger?
The first wall of the garage going up!
Squares in her favorite swing!

This garage is going to be smashing! All the walls are now up and the sheeting was started. Now we are just waiting for the roof parts. Trusses. Is that how its spelled?

And finally, Avery's first real bath. Clearly, she was not a fan. She needed it tho. Poor thing is already getting the "second child shaft." No pics have been printed and framed of her, she is allowed to go a week without being bathed and she is often left to cry for longer than 10 seconds. Mama is busy, dang it! Well, Dylan is begging me to come play cars, so thats all I have for ya this week. Avery is sleeping, so we better take advantage.

More Avery pics

Thought I'd post some more pics of Avery while I have a chance! Eric is taking half days this week, so I have a little time to get stuff like this done. Next week, not a chance!
Here's Avery with her mommy before her first sponge bath at home! Her umbilical stump fell off a few days ago, so she'll be having a real bath one of these days.
Clearly, she was not a fan. Then again, she's not a fan of being naked either. Or having her diaper changed. Or being held by someone other than her mother. She is, however, a fan of lazy sucklings and being held all day by her mom. Thats pretty much it so far. I think her dad and brother are looking forward to her becoming more "fun."
Here she is sleeping after her bath. She immediately rolls onto her side when you lay her on her back. She actually rolled over onto her tummy earlier this week. Shes a spunky little thing!
Here's a glimpse at my mornings with my two kids!
Avery sleeping. Duh.

1 week old!
Sleeping again!
Dylan and his baby sister, "Squares." He gave her that nickname and we have no idea where it came from or what it means. Its starting to catch on though!
The proud Daddy with his two babies!
And finally, sweet little Avery sleeping.

We take Avery back to the doctor on Wednesday to find out if shes gained any weight yet. On Friday she was still at 5 pounds, 11 ounces (her weight when we left the hospital the first time AND the second time). The doctor thinks that she probably sweated out a few ounces while under the bili lights and thats why she hadn't gained anything back yet. I sure hope so! Supplementing is not something I want to do, but I guess I'll have to if she hasn't gained anything by her weight check on Wednesday. She eats constantly (which I have read is totally normal) so I am really hoping that she has gained. Fingers crossed people!!

Well, thats about it for now! Thanks for stopping by!
